Volunteer
Members say they get the most out of their IABC membership when they're involved in the local chapter. Here are some opportunities for you to make a difference in the San Diego Chapter...and perhaps even your career: 2008-09 Board of Directors: IABC-San Diego is still accepting self-nominations for a few positions in the 2008-09 board year, and is looking for visionary leaders who think strategically and are committed to excellence. Serving on the board is a great way to grow your own skills, and to connect with a diverse group of communicators from various fields. Contact Molly Jarrell for more information about the 2008-09 Board of Directors. Greeter: Arrive at events 10 to 15 minutes prior to registration time to meet and greet visitors at the door, answer general questions and make introductions as necessary. Gather business cards for the raffle. Time requirement is 30-40 minutes per event. Various commitment levels are available. PR Assistant: Create basic press releases about our monthly professional development programs. Deliver press releases and build relationships with local media contacts in an effort to have our programs listed on the regular business-appropriate calendars. Time commitment is 3-5 hours per month; requires a 6-month commitment. Reporter: Write articles on monthly professional development events for IABC San Diego web site (approx. 300 words). Includes byline at the top and a short blurb about writer at the bottom. Time commitment is 3 hours per month. These are a few of our ideas and we're ready to hear some of yours as well. If you would like to get involved with IABC San Diego, please contact Bonnie Nicholls.
